Site Development
From the very start, Barkingham's 2+-acre site has been planned
and developed as a pet boarding, grooming and training center.
Everything has been arranged for the comfort and convenience of our guests
and their people, from the convenient and spacious entry, to the extensive exercise runs.

Site development work
included extensive ground level build-up
and drainage for the training fields and dog runs,
to make these areas serviceable
even after bad weather conditions.
The training fields are regulation size
and are separated from the kennel area
for easy, direct customer access.
The training fields have floodlights for our nighttime training courses.
Video surveillance and motion sensors
will provide total security.
Our Expansion - May, 2009
We completed 7 new Luxury Suites and 20 new kennel enclosures in an expansion that also includes an outside-access rest room for our training course folks to use in the evenings.
We added two murals (The Pond, shown below, and The Shore) on the walls opposite the new suites. These murals were painted for us by Al Rao, famous for decorating local schools and several walls in Cocoa Village.

Barkingham's large, business building includes space for four grooming stations, and has eight(8)
large, dog suites; a large cattery; retail sales displays, and an employee lounge area.
The grooming area has a separate Hydrosurge(TM) tub room, a drying room and a grooming room.
There is an apartment in the Main Building for the Resident Manager,
who is a kennel technician trained in animal behavior,
and in the operations of Barkingham. The RM sees to the security of the building, grounds and animals during the hours when the office is closed.

The Kennel Building
Barkingham's kennel building is bright and airy, built to ABKA standards,
air conditioned for the summer and heated in the winter.
All the kennels are indoors, and have privacy sidewalls and
impervious, odor-resistant construction.
Very large exercise runs adjacent to the building
provide adequate space for all the dogs to get lots of exercise
during the day, including optional, extra play-time sessions.

Training Fields
We have constructed AKC Trial-standard obedience training fields
and a 12,000 sq. ft. Agility field, on the south side of the property,
These fenced-in, grassy areas are graded
and have drainage, to provide the best possible
conditions during wet periods.
The fields are being used on a multi-purpose basis,
for obedience and for agility training.
Complete courses with equipment appropriate for Standard Agility and for Jumpers With Weaves
are used for training and can be rented (to qualified users) for practice.
